Chantix Zyban

Chantix (varenicline) and Zyban are the two popular prescription medicines which help the adults to get rid of their smoking habit. Although they work for the same cause but the two medicines differ from each other in many ways. Let us understand the principle differences between the two;

Varenicline or Chantix is a smoking cessation pill which has been designed to reduce nicotine craving and withdrawal effects in smoking men. It works by blocking the receptors in the brain that are linked to an addiction of nicotine. On the other hand Zyban, is mainly an antidepressant which was later approved as smoking cessation medicine by FDA in the year 1997. Its smoking cessation mechanism is yet to be discovered by the scientists. The comparative studies show that Chantix is far more effective than Zyban even with fewer dosages.

As per the three studies published in the July 5 Journal of the American Medical Association, Chantix performs better than placebos in the short term as well as long term treatment for smoking addiction, and is found more effective than Zyban medication normally as well as under different circumstances.
