Seeing our advancement and the numerous achievements in science and technology especially in the field of medicine, we are fortunate to be born in this generation. Today even the grave sicknesses can be cured with the help of medical treatment which was not possible few century's back. Many of our bad habits like the addictions for drugs, alcohol and even smoking can be cured with the help of medicines.
Smoking is one of the deadliest and hardest habits to quit. Magnetic treatment is also a new treatment for the fight against smoking and has been introduced recently. This new treatment is known as “Zero Smoke.” Here, a small magnet is placed in the ear which feels like acupuncture without the needles. It triggers the release of endorphins thereby decreasing the cravings.

It is a trademark drug of Pfizer Inc and was approved as a treatment for anti-smoking in adults on May 11, 2006 , by U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It is not a nicotine replacement product rather is a prescription drug. It blocks the entrance of nicotine in the brain to the nicotine receptor known as Alpha4beta2 and prevents the neurotransmitter dopamine from activation. Further, it diminishes the taste of cigarette and stops the cravings. From feedback collected from smokers who successfully quit smoking, Chantix is the most effective anti-smoking drug.
These are the gifts from science to help us kick our bad habit and live a more healthy life. Though we have e-cigarette, magnetic treatment, replacement therapies and Chantix, it must not be forgotten that whichever treatment we choose, to get an effective result, we need to have the “Desire to Quit” .
